DEVELOPING: Three Injured with One Airlifted to Hospital After Scotch Plains Car Wreck

Authorities in Union County are investigating the cause of a crash that injured several people in Scotch Plains on Sunday evening.

According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the scene of the two-car crash that happened near the intersection of White Oak Road and West Broad Street just before 5:45 p.m.

Police said when emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found two severely damaged cars that had collided with one of the vehicles off the roadway and in a 30ft wooded embankment

At least one person was trapped inside that vehicle.

According to authorities, firefighters were able to extricate the adult male from the car then hand him over to medics who airlifted him to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.

Police say two other victims were rushed to Morristown Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Police have not determined the cause of the collision.
