DEVELOPING: Shooting Near Rutgers University Campus Leaves One Injured

New Brunswick and Rutgers University Police Departments responded to a shooting incident early this morning that resulted in a male being hospitalized with injuries.AdThe incident occurred near the Rutgers University Campus, at 66 Easton Avenue, just before 2 a.m.

PicUpon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim's affiliation with Rutgers University remains unconfirmed at this time.

Emergency Medical Services swiftly transported the individual to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, though his condition remains undisclosed.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported to New Brunswick media that a verbal altercation began when a vehicle approached the victim.

Following a heated argument, the victim allegedly provoked the suspect to shoot. The suspect fired multiple rounds and then fled the scene.

No arrests have been made thus far.

The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office has been informed of the incident.Ad

Although several witnesses spoke to police at the scene, authorities actively sought more information from others and urged anyone with knowledge of the event to come forward.
