DEVELOPING: OSHA Confirms One Dead in Linden Worksite Incident

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has confirmed a fatality in an early morning worksite accident at a Union County Worksite. 

According to a preliminary investigation, emergency responders rushed to the 4900 block of Tremley Point Road after an excavator operated by one person somehow fell into the waters of the Tremley Point Reach just before 8:25 a.m. 

Officials from the NJ State Police Dive and Water Rescue Unit confirmed with RLS Media that they were on the scene assisting in the operation to rescue the unidentified worker from about 6ft of water.

OSHA officials said the victim was pronounced dead a short time after being removed from the water and the investigation is active and ongoing. 

There were no other injuries reported and additional information will follow as it becomes available.
