DEVELOPING ORANGE NJ: Domestic Incident Results in Police Involved Shooting in Orange

Detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are on the scene looking into a shooting that involved a police officer in Orange this afternoon.

Details are preliminary but according to reports at the scene, police opened fire on a man before 3:30 p.m. after they were called to the scene of a domestic violence incident that involved a woman and a man at Oakwood Towers located in the 400 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Police would not immediately confirm what exactly transpired but according to sources, the suspect began to assault and stab a woman who was reported to be his girlfriend shortly before police fired shots.

The suspect was struck by bullets and rushed to University Hospital in Newark in an unconfirmed condition.

A woman was also taken to the hospital suffering a stab wound according to reports. Her condition could not be confirmed as of 5:40 pm

**UPDATE 7:20PM**: This is a confirmed fatal police involved shooting of male who enagegd in a physical confrontation with his sister then stabbed her multiple times. A Orange Police officer fired on the suspect striking him multiple times.

The investigation is in its early stages and being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
