Newark Police are investigating separate shootings that sent two victims to the hospital in Newark this evening.
The first incident happened at around 7:30 p.m. in the 90's block of Cutler Street where police responded to the area after receiving reports of shots fired.
Officers that responded to the scene located a male victim inside a house suffering a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities believe that the victim was shot near a convenience store then ran down the block and into the house.
Over in the city's South Ward, gunfire rang out in the 100 block of West Runyon Street sending police to the scene where they found a male victim shot multiple times to the lower extremities at around 7:25 p.m.
The victim was located near the intersection of Chadwick Avenue and West Runyon Street according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in serious condition.
Police are also investigating a shooting that happened in the 30's block of Kent Street at around 8:25 p.m.
The suspects fled the scene in a four-door dark-colored Toyota with blue head lights according to reports.
There were no injuries reported in the Kent Street shooting.
A shooting that erupted on Lyons Avenue near the old Pathmark shortly after 8:00 p.m. had police canvass the area searching for evidence.
Officers located multiple shell casings near the ramp to Rt. 78 a short time ago.
The were no injuries reported.
There have been five people shot in less than 24-hours in the city. All have resulted in non-life threatening injuries at this time.
