EMS rushed a male victim to University Hospital in Newark suffering serious injuries after gunfire rang out in a Newark neighborhood this evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of 6th Avenue West at around 6:45 p.m. where officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach.
According to preliminary reports, a black male suspect exited a silver vehicle and began firing several shots in the direction of the victim before he sped away in the car from the scene.
The extent of the victim’s injury is only reported as serious but stable at this time.
Police are conducting an active investigation at a bodega where the victim was found.
