There is a large crime scene established in the area of Hunterdon Street and Lehigh Avenue as police are on the scene of a shooting with two victims struck at this time.
Police rushed to the scene of shots fired that rang out at around 8 p.m. where they found the victims struck by bullets. According to the victims, the suspects exited a white minivan with Canadian license plates and began to fire shots at them.
EMS transported the victims to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries for at least one victim.
Police located the unoccupied the crashed minivan in the 40's block of Lyons Avenue a short time later. Authorities believe that 3-4 suspects then jumped in a black or dark-colored SUV and sped away from the scene.
**UPDATE 8:44 pm The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are en route to the scene.**
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
