Police have a crime scene established near a park in Newark’s South Ward as officers canvassed the area for a shooting suspect that fired off several rounds that struck two males
Police responded to the vicinity of the Jesse Allen Park, the 100 block of Avon Avenue, and Ridgewood Avenue at around 5:50 p.m. after gunfire rang out at that location.
Units arrived at the scene and found the males struck by gunfire.
According to reports, one of the victim’s injuries are considered severe.
At least one black male suspect -who wore dark clothing- fled the scene westbound on Avon Avenue then jumped in a car.
Three are suspects are reportedly with the shooter.
One victim is en route to University Hospital at this time. The second victim has already been transported to the hospital.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
