This developing information is coming in from Newark's West Ward, where police are on the scene of shots fired with one person down at this time.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the 50’s block of Richelieu Place at approximately 9:35 a.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.
Units arrived at the scene and requested EMS on a rush after locating a male victim struck by bullets at that location. Residents say they heard two shots that sounded like explosions then police sirens.
Police have the area sealed off for the investigation.
The condition of the victim is unconfirmed at this time.
