Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in a section of the city’s South Ward.
According to preliminary information, just before noon, gunfire erupted in the single-digit block of Hillside Avenue sending police to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found a male suffering gunshot injuries inside the apartment building at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital in stable condition while a crime scene unit checked the area for evidence.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
No arrests reported.
