A male gunshot victim self-transported to Beth Israel Hospital after he was shot in Newark’s South Ward this evening.
Police say the shooting happened just before 6:50 p.m. in the vicinity of 156 Grumman Avenue, where residents contacted 911 when they heard gun blasts on the street that borders Hillside.
The condition of the victim has been reported as stable at this time.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway. Hillside Police officers are assisting at the shooting scene.
The suspect fled the scene and remain at large.
