Police in Newark's East Ward are looking into the motive behind a shooting with injuries Saturday.
Early morning gunfire erupted in the area of 266 East Kinney Street, rushing police to the scene to investigate.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering bullet wounds in his leg at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and no fatality has been reported at this time.
Police said a black male suspect who wore dark clothing ran away from the scene westbound on East Kinney Street.
There is an active crime scene at that location and an investigation underway.
