DEVELOPING LONG BRANCH NJ: One Dead in Long Branch House Fire

Fire officials in Long Branch are confirming a fire that caused fatal injuries inside a house in the city Friday morning.

Officials say fire broke out inside a house that had two apartments located at 133 Charles Street just before 2:25 a.m. where smoke and flames were visible in the rear of the structure.

According to authorities, a search of the house had police locate an unconscious and unresponsive adult male.

Officials say officers arrived at the scene were able to remove the victim out of the burning house then perform CPR until firefighters arrived.

Fire officials are investigating if smoke alarms inside the home were malfunctioned or non-existent according to authorities.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
