Police are reporting non-fatal injuries for a male struck by gunfire in Newark's South Ward a short time ago.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 325 Osborne Terrace around 9:47 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found several shell casings, but no victims were located.
Officers were told that the victim entered a vehicle that sped away from the scene. Police said the unidentified male arrived at the hospital and is being treated by doctors for gunshot wounds.
There is a large crime scene established in the neighborhood with Newark Major Crimes Unit involved in the investigation.
Police reported no other injuries, but bullets struck a car at this location.
