Police have a crime scene established near the vicinity of Springfield and Fairmount avenues as police check for evidence after gunfire rang out in the area this evening.
According to police, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officials at University Hospitals notified police of a gunshot victim who was dropped off at the emergency room by a private.
The victim told police that a gunman fired in his direction at the above interaction.
Rutgers and Newark police departments secured the car for the investigation.
The motive for the attack is under investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
