Deer Crashes Through Howell Women’s Front Windshield on Route 9

A 36-year-old Howell resident avoided serious injury after a deer crashed through her front windshield on Rt. 9.

According to authorities, Howell resident, Melissa Misthal, Monday morning was operating a 2004 Toyota RAV4 southbound on Rt.9 near Bergerville Road when a deer ran into the lanes of travel.

Police say Melissa attempted to avoid the deer however struck it while it was airborne. The force of the impact propelled the deer into the passenger compartment collapsing the front windshield and roof of the vehicle.

The deer came to rest on the rear floor and died.

Officials say despite the impact, Melissa had the composure of bringing her vehicle to a safe stop in the shoulder of the roadway.

EMS treated Melissa at the scene for minor injuries.
