Cliffside Park Man Charged with Explicit Contact, Child Endangerment

Authorities in Bergen County announced the arrest of Bernardo Velazco, 52, of Cliffside Park, on charges of aggravated explicit contact, explicit contact, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fairview Police Department under the direction of Chief Vincent Bellucci.

Officials stated that on Tuesday, December 12, the Fairview Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged explicit contact of a juvenile.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fairview Police Department revealed that Bernardo Velazco had explicit contact with a child under the age of 13 in Fairview while in a supervisory role, officials said.

Authorities say as a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, December 12, Bernardo Velazco was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated explicit contact, second-degree explicit contact, second-degree attempt to commit aggravated explicit contact, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. 

According to officials, Velazco is considered a fugitive from justice.
