Police reported non-fatal injuries in a shots-fired incident in Newark's North Ward Sunday night.
Residents in the vicinity of 271 Verona Avenue dialed 911 after they heard several gunshots in the neighborhood around 10 p.m.
Police arrived and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but a community search indicated no victims.
A short time later, officials at Clara Maass Hospital notified police that a gunshot victim entered the emergency department suffering injuries after being shot.
Police say the victim arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle and was later processed by a crime scene unit for evidence.
The motive for the attack has not been determined and the investigation is in its early stages.
