Christopher L.C. Kuberiet Named Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor.

Christopher L.C. Kuberiet was sworn in yesterday as Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor by the Honorable Alberto Rivas, A.J.S.C. Thereafter, all prosecutors, investigators and detectives were similarly sworn in as Acting Deputy Attorney Generals and Acting Investigators.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet addressed his newly-sworn staff and vowed to continue representing citizens and victims of Middlesex County with the same vigor that he has done for the past 29 years and thanked his staff for their continued dedication and support.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet’s prosecutorial career began in 1990 when he was sworn in as a Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor by the Honorable Herman L. Breitkopf, A.J.S.C. Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet was first assigned to the Juvenile Unit. He thereafter held assignments in the Sex Crimes Unit, the Gang and Career Criminal Unit and the Major Crimes Unit, and served as a trial team leader and zone prosecutor. He has served as Section Chief of the Juvenile Unit and the Major Crimes Unit.

In January of 2011, Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet was elevated to Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor by Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan, and was promoted again in 2013 to First Assistant Prosecutor by Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey. For the past eight years, Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet has supervised over 200 staff members.

In his 29 years of service, Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet has prosecuted and tried a wide range of crimes including murders, aggravated sexual assaults, armed robberies, kidnappings, drug cases, and juvenile matters. He is familiar with every aspect of the criminal justice system and always tries to temper justice with mercy.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet was born and raised in Middlesex County. He attended Albright College, and graduated from Rutgers Law School. Thereafter, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable David G. Lucas, J.S.C. in Somerset County.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet has received numerous professional awards and honors over the course of his career, including, most recently, the 2017 Attorney General’s Excellence Award for Victim Justice in recognition of his commitment to ensuring the criminal justice system treats

victims with compassion and dignity; and the 2017 Friend of Student Assistance Professionals of New Jersey for outstanding dedication and service to students and families in New Jersey.

Treating victims with dignity and respect as they navigate the criminal justice system has been the hallmark of Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet’s career.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet lives with his family in Middlesex County.
