Child Struck by Vehicle on Halloween While Using Crosswalk in Kenilworth

According to Kenilworth Police Detective Sergeant Michael Scanielo, at around 7:10 p.m., an unfortunate incident occurred when an 8-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street with his mother at the intersection of South Michigan Avenue and Newark Avenue.AdThe child is currently receiving medical care at University Hospital in Newark, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detective Sergeant Scanielo said the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officials.

The Kenilworth Police Department's Traffic Bureau has initiated an investigation into the crash.

As part of their inquiry, they are examining video footage captured at the scene.

Authorities are seeking any additional information or video evidence that may assist in their investigation.
