Child Shot in Newark's Central Ward

Police reported non-life threatening injuries for a child shot in Newark's Central Ward on Thursday night. 

At approximately 11:47 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the 30s block of Kent Place. 

Units arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but after a search of the area, no victims were located.

Officials at University Hospital notified police when a teenage boy -around 13- entered the emergency room suffering a bullet wound in his leg and hand. 

The boy is expected to recover. Two other victims suffered graze wounds in the shooting. 

Police have not confirmed if the child was the target of the shooting at this time. 

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
