Car Strikes, Critically Injures Man in Downtown Newark

An unidentified male pedestrian suffered severe injuries after a car struck them in a section of downtown Newark Monday morning. 

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was notified of the pedestrian strike near the intersection of Broad and William streets shortly before 1:15 a.m. 

Following the incident, emergency responders rushed to the intersection and arrived to find the severely injured adult male suffering massive facial and head injuries. 

He was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors said the victim's injuries were reportedly life-threatening. 

Police set up a crime scene to investigate the cause of the crash. 

There were no other injuries reported.
