CAPTURED: Police Arrest Irvington Man Wanted for Newark Shooting

Authorties announced the arrest of Lamar Jenkins, 33, of Irvington, yesterday in connection with an aggravated assault shooting on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

According to police, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a 36-year-old male victim was shot in the 600 block of South 20th Street.

A silver vehicle pulled next to the victim.

The driver exited the car and shot the victim several times before speeding away authorizes said.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

As a result of their investigation, detectives determined that Lamar Jenkins is a suspect in this shooting.

A $200,000.00 arrest warrant was issued for Jenkins, who was arrested after turning himself in at the 4th Precinct.

Jenkins is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Certain Persons Prohibited from Weapon Possession.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
