A 28-year-old man from Camden has been arrested and charged in connection with the brutal killing of a local woman, authorities announced.

According to Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, Enoch Rembert is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Lisa Mellet. He also faces a charge of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Authorities said that on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 11:29 p.m., emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the area of 5th Street and Bailey Street for reports of an unconscious woman lying in the roadway.
The victim, later identified as Mellet, was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
The Gloucester-Camden-Salem County Medical Examiner later determined the cause of death to be blunt abdominal trauma and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Rembert walking to the area of 5th Street and Erie Street, where he repeatedly struck the victim with a baseball bat.
Following the assault, authorities said the victim was able to walk a short distance before collapsing near 5th Street and Bailey Street.
Investigators also determined that the suspect and victim were previously acquainted within the neighborhood.
Rembert was taken into custody in Camden and is being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending further legal proceedings.
