Camden Man Arraigned in Fatal Shooting

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has been arraigned in the fatal shooting that occurred May 28, 2016 in the city.

Superior Court Judge Edward J. McBride Jr. ordered Jermaine Burnett, 23, held on $1,000,000 full cash bail Monday afternoon in the death of 28-year-old Britton Knox of Camden.

According to a probable cause statement issued by assistant prosecutor Peter Crawford, Burnett is accused of fatally shooting Knox on the on the 1300 block of Browning Street in Camden.

Camden County Police responded at approximately 2:23 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 in reference to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots and 911 calls.

Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:58 p.m.
