Bullets Strike Vehicle in Newark

Police are on the scene of a shooting that took place in the city's South Ward a short time ago.

According to preliminary reports, gunmen fired off several rounds in the 100 block of Jelliff Avenue at around 1:15 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found shell casings at that location.

Officers canvassed the area and found a car struck by bullets on Bergen and Avon.

The vehicle was unoccupied and there are no immediate reports of injuries at this time.

There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.

UPDATE 2:26 Two additional vehicles were found with bullet holes.
