Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital in Newark's Central Ward this morning.
Officers responded to the vicinity of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Spruce Street after they received reports of shots fired shortly after 10:30 a.m.
Units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he remains in stable condition.
A search of the 60's block of Spruce Street had officers locate a bullet hole in the window of a home and a car struck by gunfire.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly saw a black male getting into a vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
