Police in Elizabeth are investigating a late night shooting that occurred in a neighborhood in the city.
Gunfire erupted in the 200 block of Bond Street sending police units to the scene before 10:30 p.m. where a search of the vicinity had officers locate multiple shell casings and a house penetrated by bullets.
According to preliminary reports, a gunman arrived in the area and fired off more than a half dozen rounds in the direction of the house before running from the scene.
A family occupied the residence, but there were no physical injuries reported by police.
An infant was nearly struck by gunfire after one of the bullets entered the home then hit a wall where the child was according to reports.
