Bullets Enter Woman's House as Suspect Shoots at Police in Elizabeth

A wild pursuit with reports of shots fired that began in Elizabeth ended in Newark with cops searching for a suspect shortly before 3 a.m..

It is not known why Elizabeth Police were following a vehicle that sped off, leading them on a pursuit down the 900 block of East Grand Street onto the northbound lanes of route 1&9 where it came to a crashing halt on Haynes Ave. in Newark.

The suspect reportedly opened fire at police on East Grand Street where one of the bullets penetrating a house at that location.

A female resident contacted police informing them that a shell casing was in her living space. Bullets were also found on the northbound side of Rt. 1&9.

Police continued to follow the vehicle into Newark where the suspect's vehicle reportedly collided with a Elizabeth police cruiser forcing the suspect to bail from the vehicle.

Cops searched the area for a black male with dreads who was last seen wearing a striped polo shirt.

It is not immediately known if the suspect was apprehended.

There were no injuries immediately reported.
