Bridgeton Resident Sentenced to Five Years in Jail for Throwing Man Down Steps Causing Severe Injuries

A judge in Cumberland County sentenced a Bridgeton Resident to 5 years in jail after a violent assault caused severe injuries to a man back in 2021. 

In a statement released by  Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Friday,  the Honorable William Ziegler, J.S.C. sentenced Calvin Clark, 63, of Bridgeton, to five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison for third-degree Aggravated Assault.

Prosecutor Webb-McCrae said a jury found Clark guilty of Aggravated Assault on August 6, following a trial that lasted three days.

In the case, Prosecutor Webb-McCrae said on October 8, 2021, Calvin Clark repeatedly beat and threw a man down two (2) flights of stairs that connected to an apartment located at the same N. Pearl Street address.

The man suffered a traumatic brain injury, ear lobe laceration, lens dislocation and subluxation, retrobulbar hemorrhage, facial trauma, injury to his thyroid gland, and an avulsion fracture of a tooth.

Assistant Prosecutors Kim L. Barfield and Erin Gallaher represented the State and Christine Long represented Clark.
