Police have a crime scene established and an active investigation underway into a shooting incident with three victims struck by gunfire in Newark.
Multiple rounds of gunfire scrambled police to the area of Central Avenue and 3rd Street around 9:27 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a severely injured male suffering a bullet wound to his chest. Reports say police rushed the unidentified victim the short distance to University Hospital -in their car- suffering severe injuries.
While police shutdown the area for the investigation, they learned that two other victims were struck by bullets.
Police focused their attention on the Georgia King Village Housing projects where they believe two potential male suspect ran into one of the homes.
Two adults and a 16-year-old juvenile suffered injuries during the shooting.
The investigation is active, ongoing and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified.
