Police are reporting serious injuries for a male found shot in the face at a location in Newark's West Ward at this time.
According to police, at approximately 6:22 a.m., gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 767 South 20th Street.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a male suffering a bullet wound in his face.
Police say the man was transported to University Hospital in serious but stable condition while officers canvassed the scene for possible additional victims.
A shell casing and a trail of blood was found at the scene but no other victims were located according to police.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
