Police are reporting severe injuries for a senior man shot in a section of Newark a short time ago.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 166 South 7th around 1:45 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the elderly man suffering gunshot wounds and in grave condition.
Police say the victim was rushed the short distance to University Hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and remain at-large
UPDATE: The victim has been pronounced dead. The Essex County Prosector’s Office has been activated.
