There is a crime scene established in a section of Paterson's downtown as police investigate a shooting that had a bus driver struck by a bullet this evening.
According to preliminary reports, police and EMS rushed to the area of Broadway and Main Street at around 9:00 p.m. after they received reports of shots fired.
Upon officer's arrival, they found a male Jitney bus driver suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There are no arrests reported at this time.
**UPDATE: 11:15 p.m.** This was an attempted robbery with the bus driver shot. The gunman remains at-large.
