Essex County authorities are investigating an overnight shooting in Orange that resulted in a fatality.
Details are continuing to develop, but according to preliminary reports, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 360 Park Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. sending police to the scene where they found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark where doctors pronounced the victim dead overnight.
The investigation is in its early stages, and there have been no reports of arrests at this time. This is the third confirmed shots fired incident that connected on two victims in Orange during the overnight period.
Police have not released the victim's identity at this time.
UPDATE 7:08am The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed to the morning crew that this IS a homicide investigation for one (1) male victim.
