BREAKING: Officer Shot in West Orange; Suspect Captured in Newark

There is an active crime scene and heavy police presence in West Orange as reports come in of an officer being shot during a robbery at the Krauzers. 

According to West Orange Police, the shooting happened at 12 South Valley Road at approximately 3:00 p.m.

West Orange Police official Joe Fagan told RLS Media one male and a female suspect was engaged in a robbery of the store then shot the officer in the process. 

According to The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said the off-duty West Orange cop received a non-life-threatening graze wound after the suspect fired one time. He was transported  to University Hospital for treatment.

Police found the vehicle and the male at the Exxon Station on South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street.

Currently, State Police, Essex County Sheriffs Department and Prosecutor’s Office are all at the scene.

Mayor Robert D. Parisi has said that the officer is OK, but the investigation is active and ongoing.
