Investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene of a triple shooting that occurred on 18th Ave. and Alexander Street.
Gunfire erupted in the area at around 2:30 p.m. sending first responders rushing to the scene where one person was shot and fatally injured according to a spokesperson from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. EMS transported two others to University Hospital where they suffered gunshot wounds.
If you are keeping a count, that's going to be the 71st homicide of the year.
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed at this time.
