BREAKING NEWS NEWARK NJ UPDATE: Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Kills Man, Woman in Newark

Emergency responders and police are on the scene investigating a possible carbon monoxide poisoning incident with fatal injuries reported at this time.

Details regarding the incident are continuing to develop, but according to preliminary reports, police were called to a residence in the vicinity of 18th and New Fairview avenues -near Bergen- at approximately 8:30 p.m. where firefighters found several victims exposed to high CO gas readings.

At least one person is confirmed dead with two others suffering life-threatening injuries according to reports.

**NEWARK POLICE UPDATE 10:32p.m.** Shortly before 8:45 p.m. today, police responded to 18th and New Fairview avenues on a call of sick or injured persons. Upon their arrival, officers observed a man and woman in a running vehicle that was inside a closed garage. Medical crews on the scene pronounced the victims dead at the scene. This incident is under investigation but appears to be accidental. There is no threat to the community police said.
