BREAKING NEWARK: Shooting in Newark's West Ward Injures Man

There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that happened in the city's West Ward a short time ago.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of West End Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Officers arrived to the scene where they found evidence of a shooting but no victim was located.

Officials at the University Hospital contacted police several minutes later when a male victim walked into the emergency department suffering a non-life threatening gunshot injury to the leg.

Police are looking for a 6ft tall, -approximately- 180 pound black male who is around the age of 16-20 years old who reportedly fled the scene with a black female who is about 5ft tall and weighs about 120 pounds according to authorities.

The pair fled in a black vehicle with both suspects reportedly being armed with guns.
