The second shooting of the morning has Newark Police in a neighborhood with a female victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds at this time.
A ShotSpotter activation alerted police to the 300 block of 4th Avenue just before 11:20 a.m. where officers arrived to find a severely injured woman at that location.
EMS rushed the woman to University Hospital where doctors began treated life-threatening injuries.
There is an active lockdown underway at the La Casa De Don Pedro Daycare Center with no injuries reported to staff or any of the children.
Police have the area taped off for the active and ongoing investigation.
