There are life-threatening injuries for victims of a shooting that occurred a short time ago in Newark's South Ward.
Police have a stretch of Bergen Street blocked off from Nye to Renner avenues as they investigate a shooting that had two victims rushed to the hospital at this time.
The shooting happened in the 900 block of Bergen near Nye Avenue where police responded to reports of shots fired at around 9:25 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they found two males suffering critical injuries after being shot multiple times according to reports.
Police recovered several shell casings as they continue to comb the scene looking for evidence.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
UPDATE 10:17 pm One victim has died from their injuries.
