BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Police are on the scene of a shooting with at least three people struck by gunfire at this time in the city's East Ward.
Multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in 80's block Hawkins Street at around 5 p.m. sending police to the scene where officers located three people shot at that location.
One of the victims is suffering life-threatening injuries at this time.
Police chased a 4-door blue Mustang on Rt. 1&9 to the Turnpike where they lost the vehicle.
There is a large crime scene established at this time.
Please avoid the area for the investigation.
UPDATED 5:14 p.m. A 4th victim was found in the 70's block of Hawkins Street. Non-life threatening injuries.
UPDATED 5:27 p.m. There is one person dead at this time. One of the shooting victims is as young as 16-years-old and his condition is reported to be serious.
UPDATED 7:20 p.m. : A 16-Year-old boy is dead. A 13-year-old and 16-year-old is injured.
