BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Siblings Struck by Car in Newark

Newark

Emergency responders are on the scene of a pedestrian strike with two children injured in the city of Newark at this time.

It happened in the 200 block of First Street just outside of the Garden Spires Apartments at around 8:17 PM where police arrived at the scene to find two children -a boy around 5-years-old and his sister who is around 8-years-old struck by a pickup truck at that location.

EMS rushed both victims the short distance to University Hospital where doctors began treating their injuries.

Witnesses told RLS Metro Breaking News that the children were walking with ’a guardian’ when they somehow detached and ran into the street.

A dark-colored pickup truck operated by a male driver reportedly did not see the pair come from around the vehicles and into the busy street when he struck the kids.

The Newark Police Department are investigating the incident.

There were no life-threatening injuries immediately reported.
