Police are on the scene of shooting with multiple people shot in the city's West Ward at this time.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the 1100 block of South Orange Avenue near Longfellow where officers arrived to find as many as four people suffering various gunshot injuries.
One of the victims is suffering a gunshot wound to the head and has life threatening injuries.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
The Essex County Prosector's Office have been notified.
