There are severe injuries reported for the victim of a shooting that occurred this evening in Newark's North Ward.
According to preliminary reports, residents in the vicinity of 487 Summer Avenue contacted police when they heard loud popping noises resembling gunfire at approximately 10:40 p.m.
Police officers arrived at the scene found an unidentified victim struck by multiple bullets at that location.
EMS units were requested to rush to the scene as the victim's injuries began to deteriorate according to reports.
Police have a crime scene established and the area taped off for the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported and the gunman remains at-large at this time.
