There are fatal injuries reported for one of two victims found shot on the border of Newark's Central and South Wards Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 139 Clinton Avenue -near Parkhurst- at approximately 6:55 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found an unconscious and unresponsive male suffering bullet wounds at that location. He was pronounced dead a short time later, according to reports.
Police say one other victim was located suffering gunshot injuries.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene on Clinton Avenue in a white vehicle. Shots were fired from the car before it sped away according to reports.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of the incident as Newark Police tape off the area to initiate the investigation.
Avoid the area around McDonald's and the Family Dollar strip mall for the investigation.
