Police are on the scene of a shooting with one person down at a location in the city at this time.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the 400 block of Central Avenue near First Street (Max Doobie Unisex) where they found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the back shortly before 4 pm
EMS rushed the victim to Univesity Hospital in serious but stable condition.
There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
A black male suspect last observed wearing a white t-shirt, and a scarf fled the scene. It is not clear if the victim was shot inside the store if the man ran into the store off of the street.
There are no other injuries reported.
UPDATE 7:03pm: Police said approximately 3:49 p.m., police responded to the report of a person shot in a hair salon located in the 400 block of Central Avenue.
A male victim was transported to Rutgers University Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
The gunman is described as a black male, wearing a white t-shirt with a white scarf hiding his face.
The suspect was last seen running north on 4th Street.
