BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Newark South Ward Gunfire Strikes Two

There is a crime scene established in a Newark South Ward community as police investigate a shooting with injuries reported ay this time.

According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 125 Clinton Place at approximately 5:30 p.m. sending police officers to the scene where they found two males -1 possibly a juvenile- struck by bullets.

EMS transported both victims to University Hospital where the extent of their injuries could not immediately be confirmed.

Police say a dark colored vehicle -possibly a Nissan Altima- fired multiple shots in the direction of the victims before speeding off from the scene.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Avoid the area for the investigation.

**NPD UPDATE:** Both victims are in stable condition. Hawthorne Avenue and Clinton Hill schools are on lockdown.

**UPDATE 6:50 PM:** This is a confirmed male juvenile.
