Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Newark's North Ward injuring one person this evening.
Officials at the University Hospital immediately contacted police when a male victim was dropped off at the hospital suffering a gunshot wound at around 6 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was walking in the area of Stone and Crane when as many as four black male suspects exited a white vehicle )possibly a Dodge Charger) and began chasing the victim and firing shots.
The victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg reports said.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
