BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Life Threatening Injuries Reported for Man Found Shot Inside Car in Newark

This breaking news takes us to a section of Newark’s South Ward where there is a large police presence who are looking into a shots fired incident with a man down at this time.

According to preliminary reports, the rainy evening shooting happened in the vicinity of 215 Renner Avenue, at approximately 5:17 p.m., where a gunman fired more than a half dozen shots in the direction of a victim who occupied a vehicle.

We can only confirm severe injuries for one (1) victim and at least one other vehicle -unoccupied- was struck by bullets according to police.

If you are in the area, expect a crime scene as detectives make their way to the scene.

**UPDATE 5:43PM** We are learning of an ambulance crash that occurred on Shephard and Osborne while attempting to make it to the shooting scene. No injuries reported for that crash scene. Back at the shooting scene, police recovered about 10 shell casing as the investigation remains active and ongoing.

**UPDATE 5:46 PM** The driver of the car involved in the ambulance crash, jumped out of the vehicle and sprinted away on foot. Thankfully, No injuries at this time to our emergency responders.

Avoid the area for the investigation.
